I’m Glad You Failed!

Current Mood:Mischievous emoticon Mischievous

Ya ya, don’t act like you haven’t grinned about something not in the fluffy realm happening to someone you dislike. I’m just not ashamed to verbalize it. :) It makes for a nice blog title too. More people tend to click on this crap with those kind of titles. What does that say about people, hmmm?! :greedy:

But I also won’t dwell on it.

The rain is on hold for the moment. Unfortunately today is not a walking day… Yesterday I made it back 5 minutes before the huge downpour. Tomorrow I don’t think I’ll be so lucky. It looks pretty harsh the entire day. So I’ll bring my clothes and decide if it’s worth it at the last minute. Maybe I’ll try RoadRunner tonight and see if they have a more weather oriented jacket since both Sport Chalet and Sports Authority failed me.

I’m waiting on a build currently. It’s definitely one of the boring points of game development. So might as well take a moment to fill up some space on the blog.

Trion had an ergonomic guy come thru and assess our workstations. He was, not surprisingly, perplexed by my setup. Things need fixing, moving… but without breaking something else in the process. My desk sits higher than most which makes me want to rise my chair up. However then my feet don’t touch the floor and there is a keyboard try that I hit if I’m up too high. I don’t use the keyboard tray for the keyboard because when it’s pulled out I’m too for away to see my monitors. My monitors are sharing the ledge with my speakers, they can’t be moved forward. The keyboard is sitting on the top part of the desk. My mouse is uncomfortable at the same high as my keyboard so it lives on the keyboard tray. The same tray the makes it uncomfortable for me to have my chair as high as I want (not to mention the dangling feet again). Oh, and my “butt pan” (aka seat pan, aka place where you put your ass) is too big for me. That at least was some nice news. :)

So the quest of what to focus on next with the camera continues. I don’t know shit about photography let along the who DSLR thing. My Rebel takes compact flash. I have compact flash cards because most of my field recording gear uses the same medium. So I figured those cards would be just as good in the camera. Wow, apparently I was wrong. I guess I want fast cards, especially for the continuous shooting I’m using for things such as surfing. Those cards are a lot pricier too! I mean I guess that makes sense, there is a lot more data being written (especially if shooting in RAW) than sound being recorded. Audio at 16 bit 44.1khz stereo is 10mb a minute. The RAW images I’m shooting are hitting about 10mb each and that’s happening at 3fps up to 27 in a burst. That’s a shit-ton for data! :omg:

I guess I’ll go get some new cards first as no matter what camera or lens I use, I’m not getting full advantage out of them if the media is too slow. Cards always scare me… I never know what size to get. Ultimately I want to get the 16 or 32 gig cards as they are cheaper relatively to say a 4 or 8. But it seems like then you are putting all of your “eggs in one basket”. If that card craps out that’s potentially 200-300 bucks you’re out. Where as if a smaller card dies you are out a decent chunk less. How often do those cards crap out tho? I have no idea. I’ve never had one die. Perhaps it’s a stupid concern. /shrug

Alright, back to waiting on the build and finding something constructive to do here.

:victory:
